    What it is precision agriculture.

Precision agriculture encompasses any practice or technology that aims to limit the use of fossil fuels, fertilizers, and pesticides while maximizing the overall yield and performance of farming operations. Through the precise application of products achieved by the use of GPS and variable rate technology, both economic and conservation goals can be achieved.

    Why upgrade to precision technology?

The agricultural industry faces innumerable challenges in the future, including rising input costs and unpredictable weather conditions from year to year. To mitigate these risks and improve overall stewardship of the land, RLCD encourages landowners and managers to take advantage of the opportunity to invest in these upgrades at a discounted price with the partnership of the conservation district.

  • How to get there.

Upgrading equipment with various technologies, such as guidance systems to reduce fuel consumption or individual nozzle control to avoid over-application of fertilizers and pesticides. Monitoring systems for irrigation to conserve water use, or simply giving existing precision technology a software update to keep that equipment running efficiently. You can apply for a cost-share project with RLCD, and we can help you get started.

  • Who is eligible for cost share?

Landowners, managers, operators and producers who operate within the Rock Lake Conservation District.
